Like the fall of Kmart and the Rise of Walmart, some of these good things come to an end. Westside Dining Scene DecemBy Dolores Quintana and Sam Catanzaro Schwartz’s Opening on Pico In the Pico-Robertson District. Bottom line, didn't care about the customer enough to think about the customer I've noticed that this business seems to have really fallen off the cliff over the past 10 years. He panics and says give me 10 more minutes, and he goes to pick it up at the Robertson location and bring it back. Question is, why didn't he wonder why it never showed up to the Pico location after the 10 minutes he said it would? So we show up and it's not there. Turns out it was delivered to the Robertson location. We came back one hour later, it wasn't there. He said, ” I'll have it ready and here in ten minutes”. Not only was it not ready, the response when we came in the front door was completely unsympathetic after realizing that it was not there. It was supposed to be ready when we arrived. On this last order, we placed it plenty in advance. Great food, but unfortunately not good service. Also, this seems to be one of those businesses that the father built up and the son destroyed. In my opinion, he ought to shut down the retail and focus on wholesale, unless he is willing to ke ep the retail clean and beautiful. The problem is, it seems as if the proprietor doesn't seem to be happy with the retail side of his business. The food always has been, including this review, very good. We typically spend one Shabbos in Palos Verdes, and my wife likes to pick up food items from places like Schwartz's Bakery. We frequently go to the Pico/Robertson area when we visit Southern California.
